It's Christmas time and the only thing on Ralphie Parker's Christmas list this year is a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot, Range Model Air Rifle, but many obstacles stand in the way of his dream because every adult who he confronts keeps telling him he'll shoot his eye out.

Meanwhile, the Old Man just got a major prize (a lamp shaped like a woman's leg), and Mom is making sure The Old Man doesn't come near her turkey. Ralphie's friend gets his tongue stuck to a flag pole, and Ralphie drops the f-bomb in front of his father. Christmas is drawing nearer and Ralphie visits Santa at the department store in hopes of asking him for his dream gift. Will he recieve it?

Miami Little Theatre proudly presents this family-friendly comedy written by Jean Shepherd to the Coleman stage for the second show of its 52nd season. Director Judy Pitman has assembled a gifted cast including Corbin Walls as Ralphie, Lonnie Portenier as The Old Man, Linda Kerby as the Mother, Garrett Walls as Randy.

Also, rounding out the cast are Mike Barlow, the narrator (voiced through Ralphie's perspective), Kalisha Burtrum as Miss Shields, Austin Henson as Flick, Dillon Rasberry as Schwartz, Kaki Barlow as Esther Jane Alsberry, Halle Griswold as Helen Weathers, and Alex Walls as Scut Farkas.

Schoolchildren include Sara Acupan, Sydney Smith, Anastasia Burtrum, and Jacob Barlow.

The plot concerns con man Harold Hill, who poses as a boys' band organizer and leader who sells band instruments and uniforms to naive townsfolk before skipping with the cash. In River City, Iowa, prim librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo sees through him, but when Hill helps her younger brother overcome his fear of social interactions due to his lisp, Marian begins to fall in love with Harold. Harold, in turn falling for Marian risks being caught to win her.

The play was a Broadway smash and received the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1957. You'll love all those wonderful songs including "(Ya Got) Trouble," "Seventy-Six Trombones," "Pickalittle (Talk-a-Little)," "Gary, Indiana," "Till There Was You," and so many more!

MLT Presents: "The Cemetery Club"

What if Steel Magnolias met The Golden Girls? You would have The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchell. It follows the story of 3 longtime friends, who are all widows, each of whom is in a different stage of healing and moving on with her life. Though the play focuses on the dark subject of death, the story, dialogue and acting make this production lively and enjoyable. It is comedic, to be sure, with one-liners, and playful zingers, with a dramatic turn but not to much, as to ruin the fun.

MLT veterans, Judy Pittman and Linda Kerby along with newcomer Christal Lavery play the 3 widows, Doris, Ida and Lucille, bringing true dimension to each of their characters. Phil McGheechie plays Sam, who attracts the attention of most every widow he meets, including Mildred, played by Helen Hutchinson. The Cemetery Club is directed by Jerry Venis with Pam Catt as assistant director. It is scheduled for performances at the Coleman Theatre February 17 through 20th.
